Who We Serve

From homebound older adults to hospital patients, we reach over 30,000 people who are at risk of isolation each year.

Populations We Reach

Through Evidence-Based Programs

We are able to reach insular and isolated populations by partnering with a robust network of 250+ community partners across the New York metro area and beyond.

Music Lovers
Experiencing Isolation

Concerts in Motion is dedicated to reaching those who live in geographically isolated locations in New York City, including Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities and Older Adult Community Centers.

Individuals Aging
with Disabilities

We design programs for people who need more engagement and interaction than a typical concert format allows.

Veterans

We provide group and bedside concerts for patients at area Veterans Administration hospitals. Our musicians work with staff recreational therapists to engage these audiences in a meaningful way.

Individuals with Dementia
& Their Caregivers

We work closely with our trained musicians on the Dementia-Friendly Series to ensure that concerts are led with a calm, patient, and inviting presence. We do not require interaction from recipients- those with any and all stages of Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and/or cognitive decline are welcome.

Holocaust Survivors & Other
Survivors of Historical Trauma

We offer weekly virtual concerts for Holocaust Survivors and their loved ones featuring klezmer and other familiar Jewish music, performed by trained musicians who can converse in Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian, and other languages. We allow a safe space for musicians and recipients to talk about the music, the history behind it, and share stories and memories as they arise.

Hospitalized Patients
of All Ages

We provide concerts for patients in their hospital rooms, the hallways of hospital floors, and hospital lobbies to create a more calming, joyful environment for those receiving care.

Mandarin & Cantonese-Speaking Older Adults

Our Chinese Concert Series is dedicated to those who are most comfortable interacting in their native language. A Chinese translator is present. Concerts are led in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.

Russian-Speaking
Older Adults

Our Russian Concert Series is dedicated to those who are most comfortable interacting in their native language. We present musicians who speak Russian, Ukrainian, Croatian, and other Slavic languages upon request.

Spanish-Speaking
Older Adults

Our Spanish and Latin Concert Series is dedicated to those who are most comfortable interacting in their native language. We present Spanish-speaking musicians who present music from across the Spanish and Latin diaspora.

“Words fail beside the visible results of smiles and swaying, the wonderful sounds of clapping and unabashed singing along, and the intangible joy of staff and clients joining in community to experience together the joy of music.”

Social Worker, UCP Tanya Towers
