Our Founder & Executive Director

While New York City is home to thousands of talented musicians, it’s also home to thousands of isolated people. Founder Jennifer Carnahan Glaz envisioned the bridge between them, and Concerts in Motion was born.

 

Henrietta Pertuz, LMSW
Program Director

Henrietta Pertuz (she/her) joined the Concerts in Motion team in December 2019. As Program Director, Henrietta works closely with program staff and other stakeholders to develop and evaluate all of CiM’s music programs so that they meet the needs of CiM’s diverse community partners. As CiM continues to broaden and deepen its reach, Henrietta assesses funding opportunities to support CiM's programming.

Prior to joining Concerts in Motion, Henrietta worked in the field at the Hudson Guild NORC, helping to develop its Advisory Council, and at DOROT. While at DOROT, Henrietta facilitated intergenerational chess and reading programs. Before pursuing social work, Henrietta worked at Ogilvy and McCann-Erickson, managing client relationships with large corporate advertisers including American Express and Intel.

Henrietta is a licensed social worker. She has a Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University and a B.A. from Duke University.

Carol Berne
Director of Development

Carol Berne (she/her) joined the Concerts in Motion team in November 2022. As CiM's first Development Director, Carol’s role is to build on current success and help grow and diversify the organization’s base of philanthropic support to ensure sufficient financial resources are in place to realize its full potential. Working with the Board of Directors, Executive Director and Founder, Program staff, and other stakeholders, Carol identifies new donors, builds and strengthens relationships, and connects potential donors with the program areas that interest them most.

Carol has longstanding development and fundraising experience in the areas of healthcare, social and human service, and aging, and deeply values the transformative power of philanthropy. Prior to joining Concerts in Motion, Carol served as Senior Vice President of Development at CaringKind, formerly known as the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter. Carol holds an M.A. from New York University and a B.A. from George Washington University.

Alex Fecteau
Senior Program Manager

Alex Fecteau (she/her) joined the Concerts in Motion team in April 2020. As Senior Program Manager, Alex works with the Program Team to ensure that all of CiM’s programming is as cohesive as possible, and consistently serves isolated older adults throughout NYC and New York state in the most impactful way. Alex manages recruitment and onboarding of new musicians to the roster and supports agency outreach efforts and communication.

In addition, Alex schedules and facilitates virtual concerts and ensures a quality experience for both musicians and audience members.

Alex holds a B.A. in Communication Studies and Sociology from Northwestern University. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, taking (and developing!) photos, and learning how to play the guitar.

Zenobia Johnson
Program Manager

Zenobia Johnson (she/her) joined the Concerts in Motion team in May 2022. As Program Coordinator, Zenobia works with the Program Team as a liaison to musicians, participants, and agencies, keeping them up to date with ongoing events and hosting ongoing concert series.

Zenobia is a graduate from the University of New Haven with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Sound Recording. Along with her love of music, she has a passion for creative writing, from short stories to poetry to scripts. She's also been learning how to play the electric bass guitar in her free time.

Niti Parthasarathy
Outreach Coordinator

Niti Parathasarathy (she/her) has been at Concerts in Motion since April 2023. As Community Outreach Coordinator, she works with the Program Team as a liaison to stakeholders and partners and supports agency marketing and communication efforts. She also writes High Notes, CiM’s caregiver resource blog, and works with caregiver groups.

Niti holds a J.D. from the Wake Forest University School of Law. She has worked with organizations like the New York Mets, the Amazin' Mets Foundation, and Henry Street Settlement. In addition to her professional pursuits, she is a certified RYT 500-hour yoga instructor and meditation teacher in the Hindu-Buddhist tradition. She also has a background as a concert pianist and is currently learning to play the organ. She co-hosts Hunting Vegans, a popular podcast about nature and conservation.

Sarah Marksteiner
Development & Communications Manager

Sarah Marksteiner (she/her) has been with Concerts in Motion since March 2020. As Development & Communications Manager, she supports CiM’s Executive Director through fundraising efforts, public event planning, and donor communications. Sarah also facilitates grant management, outreach efforts, and marketing.

In addition, Sarah creates and executes CiM’s digital media, marketing and community newsletter campaigns, and she maintains CiM’s website. Sarah has a background in Arts Administration and Theatre. She is a freelance playwright and is a librettist in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, and you can catch her performing regularly at the Magnet Theater. She holds a B.A. in Theatre & Marketing from the College of William & Mary (Phi Beta Kappa).

Janine McGuire
Operations Manager

Janine McGuire (she/her) has worked with Concerts in Motion since 2011. As our part time Operations Manager, she handles our accounts payable and receivable, prepares biweekly payroll, completes internal invoices, onboards new team members, and ensures our systems are working effectively and efficiently. Janine serves as liason to our HR consultant and as office manager.

Prior to working at Concerts in Motion, Janine spent five years at Disney Theatrical Group, working in the Operations, Production, and Executive departments. Janine is also a musical theatre composer/lyricist, a member of the BMI Musical Theatre Advanced Workshop, and a recent Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellow for Musical Theatre. Her theatrical work has been performed at The Cell, The NY Transit Museum, The Phoenix Theatre, The Signature Theatre (NY), Wichita Children’s Theatre & Dance Center, and The York Theatre in addition to cabaret spaces around the country.

Tereasa Payne
Musician Trainer

Tereasa Payne (she/they) has performed as a Concerts in Motion roster musician since 2016. In July 2020 she joined the CiM staff in her new role as Musician Trainer, in which she trains musicians to optimize the virtual platform and conducts routine sound checks to maintain quality.

Tereasa has soloed with the Rochester Philharmonic, played panflute on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and plays saxophone with The Temptations. She plays 14 flutes from around the world on Disney’s The Lion King, is the world flutes consultant for Stephen Schwartz’s Prince of Egypt & performs her Flutes of the World concert across the country. In her free time she enjoys swimming and is affectionately nicknamed “Butterfly Girl” by the YMCA lifeguards because of her love of swimming the butterfly stroke.

Nicole Sharlow
Westchester Outreach Coordinator

Nicole is excited to join the Concerts in Motion team as the new Westchester Outreach Coordinator. She is responsible for building the CiM roster of professional and student musicians as well as partnering with Westchester agencies and communities who can benefit from the services that CiM offers. Although new to this administrative position, Nicole performed as a violinist for the CiM NYC roster of musicians from 2009-2011.

An active performer and educator, Nicole is Principal Second Violin of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania and a member of the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra violin section in Connecticut. She is the head of the string department at Larchmont Music Academy where she has been teaching violin, viola and chamber music since 2000. She has been spending her summers in residence at Quisisana Resort in Maine performing chamber music since 2001. Nicole earned her Master of Music degree in violin performance from the Manhattan School of Music and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University. Nicole currently resides in Westchester County, NY with her dog, Beatrice.
